Web 2.0 Smackdown Presentation - Zoom - Camryn Juckett

Zoom is a great app for virtual calls, whether it be for work, school, or even just another way to talk to many friends. It was created in 2011 by Eric Yuan. It is very easy to create a basic account, just by using an email and a password. Zoom offers many features as I showed in the video but some more fun features are playing games on there, watching a show with your friends on it together, and messing around with the virtual backgrounds. I am very familiar with Zoom because I used it for classes for almost two years when COVID was happening. Personally, Zoom is very easy to navigate and sometimes fun to use. It is very useful nowadays because some people still feel uncomfortable with going out in large groups, and also someone could be out sick but still be there virtually. Overall, Zoom is a very productive app for many people across the globe. I hope my basic run down of the app helps you guys!

    Hi Camryn. I am quite familiar with Zoom because of the pandemic. Actually, I don’t know that I would have ever been introduced to Zoom if it weren’t for the pandemic. Even though I first started off using Zoom for school, I now also use it for catching up with friends. To record my smackdown presentations, I actually use Zoom. I share my screen to my desktop and press the record button and it makes creating these presentations so much easier. Zoom definitely is extremely easy to navigate, which I love, especially since I don’t consider myself to be extremely tech-savvy. I will always continue to recommend Zoom to anyone no matter what exactly they plan to use it for. Great job!

    Hey Camryn,
    Zoom has especially become standard because of the pandemic. With how ubiquitous it's become, it makes me wonder how it became the defacto tool for professional and academic meetings since as Nina mentioned in the comment above mine-- I never heard of Zoom before the Pandemic. Great presentation!

    Hi Camryn! Zoom is a tool I became all too familiar with during quarantine, but I do recognize it is incredibly useful for students, teachers, professionals, or just for staying connected with others. I think you did a great job explaining this as well as how to use the tool to your advantage.

    Hi Camryn, over the pandemic I became extremely familiar with Zoom and I actually really like it because it is an easier way to learn online. Not only is it a good learning tool, it is also a good meeting tool. I know this app will still be beneficial for my career as it eliminates the idea of meetings always having to be over the phone or in person.

    I utilize zoom for a ton of things. This is mainly how I communicate with professors as well. I also have had zoom meetings for work and to keep in touch with friends as well. I like how it was also beneficial for teachers to teach remotely while using zoom. I think this is a very great app and it can help you stay connected with others!

         The chapter begins with explaining how sometimes you may have to change your values and beliefs to create connected learning with others.
